MCERC field programs offer adults and families a broad scope of experiences with diverse marine and coastal flora and fauna.
CITIZEN SCIENCE
The only prerequisite is a desire to experience ecology as an active member of an MCERC research team!
INTERNSHIPS & RESEARCH ASSISTANTS
MCERC internships and RA programs are designed to provide practical experience marketable skills, are variable in duration, and have structured curricula. MCERC senior faculty are mentors who work closely with participants. Be sure to follow MCERC on social media for announcements.
GRADUATE DEGREE DATA SETS
Data from MCERC research projects may be available for graduate students beginning thesis or dissertation work. Please contact us with a letter describing the scope of your project and detail how we may be able to help.
WILDLIFE ECOLOGY FOR JUNIOR SCIENTISTS
Teachers with classes in years 8 – 12 may participate in curricula to infuse excitement and interest via dynamic, interactive, experiences for you and your students!
Learning with MCERC
These programs are for adults with a desire to participate in field science projects. Experiences are geared to both current university students and those with a completed degree in a related field. All programs may be internships with the approval of the instructor or the director ahead of registration. Check our events calendar frequently for updates!

Each MCERC internship is designed to provide practical experience & skills in a specific area of research, are short in duration, & do not include structured curricula & assignments. All internships include supervision by MCERC faculty & a commitment by each student to complete the associated tasks. Check our events calendar frequently for updates!
Research Assistants (RA) are long-term commitments for adults who hold a university degree in a related science field to the project, have completed at least one internship, & are seeking an opportunity to gain significant experience in their field of interest. Webinars & Certifications are offered throughout the year. These are typically a few hours long lessons given by MCERC staff over the course of 2-6 days on various marine biology skills and techniques.
